Reactivation for Continuing Volunteers· All continuing volunteers approved for the 2013-2014 school year MUST reactivate as a volunteer no later than 4:00 p.m. on October 31, 2014. Volunteers may go to any WCPSS site and register through the intranet. Access to the volunteer system is: WCPSS Intranet – Business Applications – Volunteer Registration.· After October 31, 2014, individuals previously approved may not volunteer without a new criminal record check. To avoid unnecessary costs to the school system, principals and their staff should encourage continuing volunteers to reactivate early in the school year – and no later than October 31, 2014. · The volunteer system will be open daily for reactivation/registration through October 31, 2014.· From November 3, 2014 through May 18, 2015, the volunteer system will be open on Mondays only, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. However, during this time period, the volunteer system will be closed on the following Mondays: December 22, 2014, December 29, 2014, and January 19, 2015.
Healthful Living Red Ribbon Week
The Healthful Living Department's Red Ribbon Week (Anti-drug week) will be celebrated Monday, October 27 - Friday, October 31, 2014.The Daily Red Ribbon themes are:Monday, October 27- "Stomp Out Drugs Day" - wear mismatched shoes (no slippers)Tuesday, October 28 - "Hats Off To Being Drug Free Day" - wear a hat dayWednesday, October 29 - Teacher WorkdayThursday, October 30 - "Team Up Against Drugs Day" - wear your favorite team's jersey/ shirtFriday, October 31 - "Drugs Are Crazy Day" - wear crazy, mismatched clothes (no pajamas)
Winter Sports Tryouts
Winter Sports Try Outs:Currently we are having students sign up in our classes for winter sport try outs. Sign ups are from Tuesday 10/14 to Friday 10/17.There will be an informational meeting on Monday, November 3 at 5:15 pm in the cafeteria for all Parents and Students interested in trying out for boys or girls basketball and cheerleading. All completed Athletic Participation forms can be turned in that evening. Final due date for these completed Athletic Participation Forms will be by Friday morning November 7 by 9 am.The first day for Winter Sports try outs is Wednesday, November 12.
There is now a crossing guard at the corner of O'Neal Road and Pride Way. The guard will be crossing elementary and middle school children mornings and afternoons approximately 7:30am - 9:30am and 2:30pm - 4:30pm. Please be aware and practice caution and patience at the intersection.

Reminders for the Week of October 27thThe Healthful Living Department has organized Red Ribbon Week for Anti-Drug Awareness. All students are encouraged to participate in the daily themed activities.Monday’s theme will be “Stomp out Drugs.” Wear mismatched shoes. The FBLA is sponsoring a pink out day to raise breast cancer awareness day. Students and staff are asked to wear Pink. Tuesday’s theme will be “Hats Off to Being Drug Free.” Students and staff are reminded to wear a hat. The football team will travel to West Millbrook. Tuesday is also the final day of the first nine week. The Running Club will also meet after school.Wednesday will be a teacher workday.Thursday’s theme will be “Team Up Against Drugs”. Wear your team’s favorite jersey or shirt. The soccer and volleyball teams will host West Millbrook. Friday’s theme will be "Drugs are Crazy". Wear crazy, mismatched clothes (no pajamas please).Save the date – the Healthful Living Department will sponsor “Pins for PE” bowling event on Friday, November 7th from 4 - 6 pm at AMF Bowling Lanes in Pleasant Valley. The cost is $10 and includes shoe rental, popcorn, drinks and lots of bowling fun. Prizes will be awarded to the top grade level bowlers and students who beat their PE teachers.
