Inclement Weather Conditions

In case of snow or other potentially hazardous weather or emergency situations, a decision may be made to close or delay school. If the weather is bad enough to make a decision the day or night before, WCPSS will do so in time for the 11 p.m. newscasts. Otherwise, at 3:30 a.m. school transportation personnel drive the bus routes to check firsthand on local conditions. Between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m., the transportation director consults with the National Weather Service, local weather forecasters and the Highway Patrol. The director then calls the superintendent with an update at 4:45 a.m., and a decision is made. WCPSS will immediately alert the media, call principals, and post a notice on the system's website and to the e-mail notification service. Never assume schools will be closed, have a delayed opening or close early. Schools will open on their regular schedule unless otherwise announced.

Magnet High School Information for Leesville Middle School Parents

For any 8th grade parents considering future high school options, the Magnet Schools will be hosting school open houses in January and February.

Wake Early College for Health Sciences - January 6 at 6:30 pm
Enloe GT Magnet High School - January 27 at 6:00 pm
Southeast Raleigh Center for Leadership & Technology Magnet High - January 28, 6:00
Millbrook International Baccalaureate Magnet High - February 2 at 6:00 pm

Each of these schools also offer regular tours during the school day, and interested parents can contact the school or Magnet Resource Center for more information by e-mail at magnetcenter@wcpss.net , 501-7900, or www.wcpss.net/magnet . There are also regular Parent Information Sessions at the Magnet Resource Center every first and third Tuesday at 10:00 am. Applications may be submitted online from February 1 - 21.
