Academically Gifted Program
Testing
Testing for the Academically Gifted Program occurs twice during the school year, first and second semesters. New students who are recommended by their teachers and/or parents and transfer students from other AG programs make up the pool of students tested.
Students are tested using an Aptitude test (Cognitive Abilities Test) and an Achievement test (Iowa Test of Basic Skills). Students scores are considered as well as other informal factors--report card grades, End of Grade (EOG) scores, teacher and parent checklist, etc. The Student Based Committee for Gifted Education Committee (SBC-GE) at each school determines service needs.
